Tricks History 1987

STEVE COMMENTS:
"In 1987, the old Dick's Market closed and the new Dick's Market opened. I left the band then to concentrate on my huge new responsibilities at the new and much bigger store. That's when  Rick was in Science Project and a year or so later I joined New Romance Band. [2 girls & 2 guys]. That was a busy band - played every weekend, traveled a lot. I don't think I lasted a year."

July 3, 1987 - Rick & Krys party on the patio - #1
It's 4th of July weekend. In order to get the Opus band together for an afternoon jam, Rick and Krys volunteer their patio for a rock and roll party. Rick and Krys invite every musician that they know. Opus jams out with 5 original members: Darl Lane, Dale Boysen, Tom Hudson, Dan Hitchcock, Greg Goodsel. What a great time!! There are about 20 musicians and maybe 30 spectators; a nice little party. Tricks also plays a long set, with the re-born foursome of Dale, Tom, Rick, and Steve. And Science Project plays a set as well. A very fun musical day.
Here is video of Science Project at this party, doing Dire Straits "Industrial Disease".

August 1, 1987 - Rick & Krys party on the patio - #2
The first jam party was so much fun, we decide to have another. This time there are probably over a hundred spectators. Most of the same musicians are there. Fun!!

September 6, 1987 - Rick & Krys party on the patio - #3
The second jam party was so much fun, we decide to have another. It's Labor day weekend. This time we have a couple hundred spectators, with cars parked all up and down the road by Krys and Rick's house. Most of the same musicians show up again, but it's not quite as fun as the smaller parties. We all decide that it would be a good thing to do a jam party like this once every year. The party doesn't need to be at the same place every time though. And it's is also agreed that we would keep the spectators to a minimum.

December 29, 30, 31, 1987 - Science Project - Bogie's (New Year's) - Last gigs
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (New Year's Eve Party), and Saturday. - Odd schedule during this last week of 1987, and the final week of Science Project. Saturday, January 2, 1987 is the last gig for Science Project. The main reason for the break up is similar to the reason why Science Project needed Rick in the first place - No need to talk about it here.
