Tricks History 1997

In 1997 Tom Hudson has been working very hard at his H & H Properties venture. He quits his well-paying job at Textron Inc. in order to devote his full time to his career in Real Estate and Property management. Because Tom has to take frequent trips to Texas to manage his properties down there, Tom requests that Tricks book gigs "2 weeks on, 2 weeks off". That looks unworkable to the rest of the band, so, once more, Rick gets to tell Tom that Tricks is going to find another bass player.
Rick says: "I would love to hear Tom's side of the story. All it came down to was the simple fact that Tom couldn't play as often as the rest of the band wanted to play. At the time when we decided to let Tom go, we already had once been forced to find a substitute bass player because Tom was absent. I still feel bad, because I always had to be the hatchet-man for decisions that were made by the entire band. And this was the 2nd time that I had to break sad news to Tom. In retrospect, we made the right decision for Tom and for Tricks. Tom and his wife Mary built H & H Properties into a multi-million dollar business. And, instead of trying to manage a band schedule around his business career, Tom slowly built up a very respectable recording studio in his barn. Meanwhile, Tricks played a very full schedule in 1998 and beyond."
